Poon Hill Easy Trekking Guide

Pokhara Lakeside - Trekking

1. Short and Fast Poon Hill:  Drive to Beni walk to Tatopani via bus or taxi. A taxi will be a bit expensive to go this far. A bus will take around 3 hours. From Tatopani it up to Ghorepani, then early morning to see the view from Poon Hill. You can avoid the crowd and go a little later is fine. Minimum 4 nights.

2. Nayapul, this is the usual route. Ulleri, first night, Ghorepani, Poon Hill, Tatopani, Pokhara. Minimum 4 nights.

3. Add Chomrong. Chomrong is a nice village and is worth visit.  Phedi, Landruk, Chomrong, Ghorepani, Poon Hill, Ulleri, Pokhara.

4. You can even start from Pokhara and add one more day of trekking.

The Poon Hill trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal because it can be done in a short time with a big pay off at the end, with a great view. You can eaily make this a longer trek as you like so therePoon_Hill_trekking_Guide_1is plenty of flexibility

For this trek you can pack very light. Everything that you need can be rented in Pokahra.

You will need:

  • A good fitting backpack with good straps
  • Good shoes. You should have these before and be worn in.
  • Fleece Jacket, Hat
  • 1-2 Pants, light weight synthetic
  • 2 Shirts, underwear, socks, personal items.
  • Trekking Map, Flashlight, a book, Mp3 player, Camera.

Water can be bought in the villages. The villages along the way have many things you might need as a trekker. The trekking routes will be busy and not really lonely. Very nice views and people are there.

Rooms along the route will cost around 150Rs and tend to be basic but there are better quality in Chomrong. Food will about the same.
