Busy Bee Cafe

Pokhara Lakeside - Entertainment

"Goodness gracious me ! it's the Busy Bee!" the small hawk put out with some enthusiasm, looked at me a genuine smile. He stands there handing out flyer half the day, but no need really.

The Busy Bee Cafe has been around the block and then some, formerly known as the 'Hard Rock Cafe Pokhara back in 1990. It is usually filled up on given night depending on the season it could be more or less half foreigners. A place to get laid back, eat some good food, such as a Veg Enchilada or excellent Yak pizza listen to great live music and dance up a storm!

There pool in the back and fires in when the season gets cool at night. Tends to close early so get there early and enjoy nightly entertainment by local musicians. Funny how much they these guys really dig the old classics, Scorpions, Crosby stills and Nash, Rolling Stones and the old modern pop hits too. Something in classic Rock and metal really appeals to Nepali youth, perhaps some inner angst and rage against the system. Get 'Laxman' (the singer below (who also the local music teacher) to belt out some classic Queen and you -will be impressed, this guy really has a good voice and sounds like Freddy Mercury. The guitar player, Vishnu can crank out the some serious guitar licks too. Both these guys are stand up musicians and operate like a jukebox. Nepali Jimmy Page anyone?
